Simple, consistent health messages delivered close to home can prevent illness long before anyone needs treatment.
Most of the health challenges communities face can be reduced through prevention. Clean water, good hygiene, safe motherhood, child immunisation and early care-seeking all begin with knowledge and the confidence to act on it.
Health promotion works best when it is delivered by people communities already trust, in clear language, and repeated in the places where people gather: health facilities, schools, markets and community meetings.
